We celebrated the start of 2013 just 42 days ago & Chinese New Year just yesterday yet already 2013 is proving to be the year of the Decor Angel.
We started the year being the lucky winners of an Ipad thanks to entering our names into a draw with Johnstones Decorating Centres whilst attending the National decorating show in November last year. Cue our first photo shoot receiving our fabulous Ipad....
Then, just 2 weeks ago I received a call from The Bolton News to inform us that we had won the Local Accelerator prize, an initiative by the regional press industry to boost local businesses, fronted by the Dragons' Den's Deborah Meaden and supported by the Business in You. The prize being a large advertising campaign worth thousands in our local newspapers, The Bolton News, Bolton Journal, Bury Times & various other publications. The prize also includes mentoring from local business leaders & various other fabulous 'perks'
I thought we were having a great start to the year as along with these wins came tweets from various celebrities including Deborah Meaden congratulating us on our local accelerator win.
Whilst trying to work my way through paperwork this evening (and force myself to stay away from the distractions of Facebook & Twitter!) my phone beeped a couple of times saying I had received new interactions on Twitter... it was only after it had beeped for the 10th time I decided I needed to have a look why I was suddenly so popular.
I read the first couple of tweets all congratulating me on my #sbs win.... I nearly fell off my chair! As I scrolled down I came to a Retweet off Theo Paphitis. I had entered last nights #SBS, Small Business Sunday where Theo Paphitis chooses his favourite 6 tweets & retweets them.
My tweet said ' @TheoPaphitis female decorators not only holding our own but excelling http://www.decor-angels.com hope our winning streak conts. with a RT #sbs
Within an hour I had gained 30 new followers and 36 interactions on Twitter & my phone is still beeping away now.
We thought our day was exciting this morning when we had our photos taken for The Bolton News, for an article about our win of Local accelerator & our #sbs win has capped the day off with even more excitement.
I imagine the next few weeks - or months even- will pass in a blur but im sure we will enjoy every minute.
Thank you to everyone involved & hopefully we will continue to work hard & be recognised for the hard work.
Now im off to work on what I can give back......
